All YSDF21 performance slots have now been filled but we encourage any school or group wanting to take part to complete registration. You will be contacted in the event of a group dropping out.

We're pressing ahead with plans for the 2021 Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival. Nobody can guess what Covid restrictions might still be in place in November but, hopefully, the world will have returned to some kind of normality. We are, however, assuming nothing.

A VITAL EXPERIENCE FOR CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE
We recognise, as does anyone working with children and young people, that participation in activities and events that celebrate achievement and support good physical, emotional and mental health is vital. It's something that has been sorely missed over the past year. To continue to deny them these kinds of opportunities would be incredibly sad. We know just how much YSDF means to everyone that takes part.

Our 2021 theme is, appropriately, 'The Power of Together'.

MAKING THE EVENT COVID SAFE
We appreciate that, even if things are back to normal, there may still be some apprehension about attending and participating in large-scale indoor events.

This is why we'll be splitting the usual single event on each day and replacing it with two smaller Festivals - one at 12.00pm and one at 5.30pm.

Delivering the Festival in this way will allow us to maintain social distancing both backstage and in the auditorium and to more easily implement any necessary Covid planning. In the event of indoor events not being able to run because of further local or national Covid restrictions, we'll refund the registration fee and tickets purchased for the event (minus any booking fees).

WHAT SHAPE WILL THE DAY TAKE?
We've detailed the Festival schedule on this page. We anticipate that each festival will run for an hour or so with around 7-8 schools and groups taking part in each one.

As in previous years, each smaller Festival will be made up of a mixture of primary, secondary, FE/College and community performances. There'll still be the same number of schools, colleges and groups taking part overall and we'll still witness the breadth of talent and creativity that's always been on show at YSDF.

HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED?
Because we've now allocated all performance slots, we're asking schools, colleges and groups who wish to go on our reserve list to complete registration by clicking on the link below.

The registration fee for 2021 is £140.00.

If you've got any questions please look at our Frequently Asked Questions page or get in touch.

We hope to see you in November. Let's make this happen!
