The Power of Together!

Updated: Jul 23, 2021

The 2021 Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival is launched.

We're moving ahead with preparations for the 2021 Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival. The event will happen across two weekends - 13th/14th and 20th/21st November at Central Hall, University of York. As in previous years, we'll celebrate the talent and creativity of over 1200 children and young people from 60 primary schools, secondary schools, College/FE and community groups from across Yorkshire. Diverse communities brought together under the banner of dance. All ages, all abilities, all styles welcomed!

Our #YSDF21 theme is ‘The Power of Together’. We'll have more to say about this as the months progress... but isn't it a fantastic starting point! We can't wait to see where groups and their teachers/leaders take it.

We’ve yet to understand how indoor events will be able to function after June 21st until an announcement is made but there is a strong likelihood that, by November:

1. Venues can safely function at near maximum capacity.

2. Less restrictive social distancing measures will be in place.

We're working with our partner venue to ensure we work within any standing guidelines to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for audience, performers and staff.

At this stage we’re inviting primary schools, secondary/high schools, College/FE providers and community dance companies/groups who'd like to take part to pre-register by clicking on the link below. Once an announcement is made on June 21st we’ll then contact schools and groups to confirm involvement and schedule the 4 days of dance. We will take no registration payment until firm arrangements are in place.

There's an information for schools and groups page on our website that should answer any questions you may have. You can also watch a film that captures the energy and spirit of the 2019 event.

We’ll also be working with potential partners on additional strands of work to both enhance the experience for the 1200 dancers that usually take part each year and to spread the impact of our work still further. If you would like to discuss potential partnerships please get in touch.

We’ll hold your details on our records and contact you with news and updates.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time -
