Revealed: the Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival
We started the Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival in 2012. We've learnt a lot. We've achieved a lot. Over 7000 performers and over 100 schools have taken part. Wow. Definitely NOT a competition... an opportunity for children and young people to shine. Four days of performance at the University of York, Central Hall. Staged annually - 56 schools, colleges and community groups and over 1000 performers. Be a part of something special - www.yorkshireschoolsdancefestival.co.uk | @YorksDanceFest
2021 Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival. Scratch post 11 performance.
Post 11 performers at the Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival were treated to scratch workshops with young people from other schools, college and community groups. During the 45 minute workshop a section of choreography was demonstrated and then taught as an ensemble performance. A section was then performed at the Festival itself in front of an audience of over 700 people. Thanks to CAPA College, Mechanics Wakefield, York College and Leeds City College for making it happen.
2021 Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival Introduction
The 2021 Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival began with a bang! We put a call out to schools, colleges and groups to record their children and young people dancing to 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' - and they came up with the goods! The track worked perfectly with our 'The Power of Together' theme. All ages, all styles, all abilities. The film meant that even more young dancers were involved in the Festival across Yorkshire and we could celebrate their talent and creativity.
2021 Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival final finale rehearsal
Our Festival always ends with a finale involving all performers and a little bit of audience involvement (we like to get EVERYONE on their feet at YSDF 😊). This is a recording of the final rehearsal for the final Festival day. We did 8 in total. Huge thanks to Olivia Pearce, one of our 2021 student mentees, for putting the routine together and creating the video tutorial. Special thanks to Hannah and Drew at York Dance Space for bringing it all together.
Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival: The experience for children & young people
A taste of what performers can expect during their day at the Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival. We want to immerse children and young people in dance... to be engaged and inspired! Thanks to: Hannah and Drew (York Dance Space) for the workshops and Festival finale. www.yorkshireschoolsdancefestival.co.uk
2021 Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival: Rob Burrow Introduction
Rob Burrow MBE recorded a motivational introduction to the 2021 Yorkshire Schools Dance Festival. HIs daughters love to dance so asking him to help us to mark the Rugby League World Cup 'The Power of Together' theme was an easy call to make. Thanks to Rob and his team for making it happen. We were pleased to raise funds for The Rob Burrow Centre for MND Centre Appeal at the Festival.
